January 5th is the Feast of Saint John Neumann.  He was Bishop of Philadelphia from 1852-1860.   St. Bridget has a close connection to St. John Neumann.   In 1853, 20 families of East Falls approached bishop Newmann and requested that a church be built to provide Mass for the Catholics in the East Falls area of Philadelphia.    That same year on September 18 the cornerstone was laid for the church and two years later the first Mass was celebrated at St. Bridget church.   I pray St. John Neumann continues to bless the people of East Falls with his intercession that we grow closer to Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior and Mary, Our Mother.
